Barbie comes to Paris

Mademoiselle B is the name of an exhibit that stars Barbie and takes place in the recently opened Cité de l'Architecture, Place de Trocodéro. Entrance is free and on the side of the Cité, rue Albert du Mun. On show are wardrobes by famous couturiers and up and coming stylists. Chic and trash. There is a section on Barbie's domestic setup. The show goes on until Jan 27,2008. After, you can lunch at the Café Carlu in the big entrance hall ; light but tasty. Or you can cross the plaza, the Iena Bridge and visit the Eiffel Tower and the Guignol in the afternoon on Wednesday and weekends after the crossing of the Rue St. Dominique.

Rue Boissy d'Anglas

boissy_d_anglasHad an errand to do on this busy street between rue Royale and the Madeleine and was surprised to find several covered galleries. The first was the prettiest with many interesting shops and a chic spot for lunch, Bar Le Passage (chef: Alain Senderens!!!) at a reasonable price. (ie about 20 euros).

This passage is called the Gallerie de la Madeleine.

The next covered passage was further on toward the Place de la Concorde and had a restaurant with a big outdoor terrasse and is called Le Village Royal.

The last was pretty swanky and the boutiques were ultra classic except for the big store on the left, L'Eclaireur and its restaurant which was in the courtyard.

Nöel

The champs Elysées dressed up for the holidays. Bottom view towards Place de la Concorde and the giant Ferris wheel, top shot towards the Arc de Triomphe. The lights twinkle and fall like rain.

Very nice but I prefer Avenue Montaigne where the trees are dressed in red skirts.

To get from the Champs to ave Montaigne you take the rue de Marignan and there you can windowshop for a gown that will not go unnoticed...

Louise Bourgeois

I was surprised to discover this piece by Louise Bourgeois in front of the Orangerie, a museum recently renovated and where you can visit Monet's waterlilies and other wonders by the impressionists.
